Background
Telco
Planning
is the rebirth of a successful consulting group operating from
1990 to 2000. Telco Planning personnel are pioneers in
public communications network engineering, operations, business
modeling, deployment and now market development. Early on
Telco Planning was at the forefront of Intelligent Network
Signaling with many CTI Prototypes for operator workstations and
voice messaging, Number Portability, Bill Number Screening and SS7
Initial Address Message implementations. The early work also
lead personnel through significant network billing and numbering
plan issues. The early Telco Planning consultants focused on
technology and the operational support systems to support the new
technologies. This lead to significant patents, FCC and
State rulings and new standards published.
Most of Telco Planning's early efforts were directly the results
of participating in many committees of the Exchange Carrier
Standards Association (ECSA), now named Alliance for
Telecommunications Industry Standards (ATIS). Consultants
are or have been invited authors of Bellcore/Telcordia, COMPTEL,
USTA, ATM Forum, FCC task forces, State Governors Task Force and
many other professional organizations.
In the mid 1990s as Competitive Access Providers added switches
and new types of customers Telco Planning personnel we
instrumental in advising network operators. In addition,
Telco Planning consultants advised many law offices and investment
firms on the viability of their investments. Just before the dot
com bust imploding the telco networks (and some telecom companies
overstating their results) Telco Planning closed to work for
others. Loosing the head ache of operating the business and
a suspicion that network operators were not making their
numbers, the investors would pull out.
Now, Telco Planning is back with deep fiber optic network
solutions with unique skills in development of GigaBit, Wireless
and Passive Optical Network (PON) network
elements. Several of the consultants have worked in the
R&D efforts of these technologies including the Element and
Network Management System creation.
Telco Planning is a consultancy in the true word. As in the past,
there are professional hourly rates. Telco Planning
consultants are not contract workers. Telco Planning
consultants meet the needs of network operator executives who need
strategic advice on new technologies, deployments or
implementations. Telco Planning consultants can lay out
models for deployment, evaluations of strategies, revenue and
expense for deployment and operations.
